Chilton Publishes on Hunger and Depression
March 5, 2014
Dr. Mariana Chilton, Director of the Center for Hunger-Free Communities and an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy, is the sole author of an article entitled “Child hunger is a prescription for depression in late adolescence and early adulthood” published in Evidence-Based Medicine.
The study discussed in this article used data from a single yes/no question collected from 1995-2009 to assess how reports of hunger were associated with depression. These findings contribute to the knowledge about the long-term effects of food insecurity.
